Decoding Microsoft SafeLink URIs

As part of the Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection service, links sent through the @nyls.edu domain are scanned and quarantined by Microsoft in order to prevent links containing malicious intentions from being distributed and executed.

When looking to redistribute links from email, the encoded URI will change from…

  • something like this: https://support.nyls.edu
  • to something like this: https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=…

The encoded URI may make it difficult to share this link in other mediums and as such, we would recommend using this free tool which strips the encoded URI.

  1. In the email message, right click on the link and select Copy Hyperlink.
  2. Go to o365atp.com.
  3. Paste the link into the top box.
  4. The original URL will then be displayed in the Decoded URL box.
