Class / Event / Media Capture Retention

A Class / Event / Media Capture Retention schedule has been created to ensure that the institution has the opportunity to retain any captured media which has any potential future value to the institution. However, due to licensing and storage costs, the Institution must have a process for removal of aged content that no longer serves academic or institutional needs. In order to balance these goals, retention and archive schedules have been created for the transfer of media stored in our licensed content delivery network.

Class captures are faculty lead recorded lecture or seminar engagements used in the support of academic efforts at NYLS. Class capture recording are initiated by NYLS staff at the request of a faculty member, Faculty Support personnel, or in certain cases, NYLS students. Faculty will be notified during the first week of the following semester, that the removal of the previous terms’ lecture recordings will take place. At this time, faculty should plan to download and store any recordings that may provide Administrative or Academic value to NYLS. The removal of the class captures from the content delivery network will take place approximately two weeks after the start of the following term.

Event captures are created in support of faculty, staff, or external partners. Media capture refers to any audio or video media that is generated by any fixed, in-classroom recording hardware, mobile recording devices, multi-media studio, and or production video that is used in support of academic efforts, marketing, or event support at New York Law School. Events follow the Class Capture Retention schedule and will be removed two weeks after the start of the following term. At this time, faculty should plan to download and store any recordings that may provide Administrative or Academic value to NYLS.
